Sunset Cliffs Elopement

Elizabeth + Gary

When Elizabeth and Gary reached out to me to document their elopement here in San Diego I was absolutely overjoyed with the thought of getting to photographing them on their special day. Better yet they had absolutely no idea on where they wanted to exchange their vows. When describing their perfect location they used the words ocean view, magical landscapes , and of course something unforgettable. But let’s be real, a lot of locations in San Diego fit this bill. But the absolute first place that popped in my mind was Sunset Cliffs.

Sunset Cliffs Nature Park is spread over sixty eight acres along the Southern California Coast. I personally like to shoot on at Luscomb’s Point area on top of the cliffs. This area gives you an amazing Ocean View with huge cliffs. If you want to access the beach the best place to do so would be  at the corner of Ladera St. and Sunset Cliffs Blvd. There is a set of stairs leading down to a tide pool area but it is best to go at low tide. Portraits and elopements (with no guests) currently do not need a permit but weddings with up to 50 guests will need a permit from the City of San Diego Parks Department. The location also only has street parking.

Elizabeth and Gary really wanted to elope but they also didn’t want to miss out on all of the pretty details that go along with a traditional wedding. This is the part where I give a huge shoutout to all of the venders who really helped make this happen.
