Sarah + Brent
.
These two lovebirds had planned a huge 300+ guest wedding for later this fall but unfortunately their plans, like many others, came to a screeching halt with COVID- 19's sudden appearance. They held out hope for a while, but ultimately decided to forgo their supersized wedding for a more intimate, and health conscious, adventure elopement with a small reception to follow at a later date.
So this is where our adventure begins ! Sarah and Brent definitely wanted to keep their elopement local to SoCal, but they also knew exactly what they wanted as far as scenery goes. When they described their love for water and epic mountain views I knew exactly where we had to go.
Lake Cuyamaca is just a short 1 hour drive from San Diego, California. If you have ever been apple picking in Julian, California chances are you have probably seen this picturesque lake surrounded by a lush pine and oak forest. And of course looming in the distance is Stonewall Peak. It is not the highest peak in the region but its impressive volcanic cone like shape makes for an amazing backdrop.
There is no "wrong" time of year to visit Julian or Cuyamaca Rancho State Park but one of its more stunning seasons is Fall. Many San Diego locals flock to Julian every Fall to pick apples, enjoy the Fall colors, and of course, pig out on some of the best apple pie SoCal has to offer.
